Understand your lamp temperatures to match the lamp output color to the surroundings. From the very warm color of incandescent lamps (about 2700K) (Kelvin) to halogen to the cooler fluorescents (4100K, 5000K and higher) you can make a big difference in the appearance of an area by controlling lamp color not to mention the significant affect that lighting color has on mood and productivity. Make sure to keep consistency across project areas. I tend to gravitate toward the cooler lamp colors in most corporate offices and industrial manufacturing areas but project requirements and client needs vary. Its always an important question to ask early on and to verify during the lighting submittal process.
